We play golf croquet at Epsom Sports and Social Club(near Epsom Hospital). It is a very sociable occasion playing for up to two hours with a break for Tea or Coffee. The cost of each session for the coming season will be £2.50 with an additional 50p for the tea or coffee & biscuits. The season runs from May to September with a couple of taster days in late April.
Fetcham has a slot every other Tuesday afternoon from 2 – 4 pm and every Thursday one week 10 – 12 and the alternate 2 – 4 pm. A schedule is issued by Sarah, the club secretary at the beginning of the season (colour coded to make it easy to grasp.
There is an opportunity to play each Tuesday, as all are welcome at the Epsom Sports and Social club slot which alternates with our sessions.
It is a case of just turning up on the day to play.
We have two fun competitions in the summer one against other local U3A Croquet groups at Polesden, this is organised by Bookham group. The other is against Epsom U3A who also play at ESSC on the alternate Thursday mornings. The latter is at the end of the season and is followed by a Ploughman’s lunch.
We are a light hearted group, who generally don’t take croquet too seriously – a good chance for mixing gentle exercise and fresh air with friends.
Epsom Sports & Social Club also arrange Association Croquet games on Monday afternoons for their members.
If you don’t own your own mallet there is a hire charge of £1 per session, this goes towards buying new mallets for the club.
